Because of this staunch attitude of individualism, we have developed a society which is not concerned about health and wealth of others but their own. Said this, witnessing the small area’s of Lahore is a sight of menace, People have not paid attention to cleanliness around themselves, garbage is usually found beside the main gate or is stretched in the streets.

Lahore Waste Management Company has made several awareness programs and studies to make people understand the consequences that they would have to bear, not only in form of financial penalties but in health issues too. Our people however remain ignorant regarding the health issues and continue t litter the streets.

Being an ethical citizen we are accountable & responsible to educate people about the health implications littering can bring. Also, if we want to be half the Muslim then Cleanliness is a necessity to follow.

After a long time, I met my friends in Islamabad for a National Level Campaign, The most needed campaign, without which we might be thrown into the darkness forever. It was “The voters campaign”. Bloggers from all over Pakistan were amalgamated at one place and we discussed the criteria of spreading awareness among-st the local community.

Today, The politicians or even the local community is smart enough to check the happenings over Social media, Its a new trend in Pakistan and has taken over by almost every field of business, may it be medical care, education, comics and now Politics too.

After a lot of consultation and brainstorming, we came up with the idea of spreading awareness through Twitter, We started with sharing the rules & regulations that Election Commission of Pakistan has now put up. One of the new facts that i got to know was that Any constituency having less than 10% votes of Women only will lead to cancellation of all votes in the constituency  So its a reminder that WE the women are being empowered and yes WE have the right to choose for our country.

More over the process of voting has been made more easier, Such as this time when anyone would visit the place then with the CNIC, Name and other details, A picture would be available too.

Another query that we received a number of times was “What if you arrive at a polling station and your vote is already cast“?
In this case,you will go to the presiding office, show your CNIC and your thumb to indicate you have not voted yet.The officer will issue you a fresh ballot paper which will then be inserted into a sealed envelop and then into the ballot box.The vote in the envelope will override any other vote.

Think, Create, Stand Out... RISE

UET is near to completing a century after 5-6 years. Making it more glorious now the old trends are changing and UET has advanced itself for the last 95 years. Technofest’12 is one of the projects that first engineers introduced in 2011, now following the legacy this year 5 majors components of UET i.e. 4 societies and one Department is all set to rock students with creativity and fun.

TechnoFest’12 is A Joint Venture by IET, IEEE, ASME, ACM & IB&M under the umbrella of Al Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Sciences

Following this league, TechnoFest’12 has about 40 competitions in Line, One of the Non-Technical and business competitions is Agglomeration, It consists of 4 exciting rounds that would turn you delights with creativity in 3 days

Round-1 Make or Break:

Round one will be Make Or Break (sales war) in which all teams are given a particular product (may or may not be same) for which they have to develop complete business plan of its launching, a complete marketing strategy and ad for the given product (Ads are not compulsory but suggested) .

Round-2 Next Big Thing: 

Followed by the round one comes Next Big Thing. In this round the participants would be required to bring a supplementary product or a product which is closely associated to the original product given to them. Again they will develop complete business plan of its launching, a complete marketing strategy and ad for the supplement product. Then they have to give a presentation that how they sell their product.

Round-3 Ride the Tides:

This round consists of two parts. The First part will be to judge the teams on the basis of their cognitive skills, in which the teams will be given critical and complex situation by the panel regarding their over all business plan they made in previous round. In short bombardment of worst situations will be thrown on each team one after other by the panel to check their stability and behavior towards crisis management. The second part would be a SANS MEDIA in which the teams have to build their overall promotional strategy (marketing and selling strategy) with the assumption that there is no concept of electronic media. In short they have to build a proper competitive strategy to sell their product in the absence of media.

A case study on crisis management can also be considered in this round.

Round-4 Serve the Soul

 Last round will be social entrepreneurs round in which all the teams have to plan a complete strategy for any campaign, product or service developed for the welfare of the society in order to create a soft image of the business firms in the mind of the general public. The ultimate objective would be measure in non-profit terms.

Starting from 1921 to March 13th, 2012 Today, This tree has seen rise and fall of UET. He is sad because he was born into this institution and he saw how this Organization was the premier in Engineering Education, How it became a renowned institute around the world, how terrorism started, how it got controlled by Mr. Akram Khan (Current VC) and the peaceful era of last 10 years. How engineers developed and transformed Engineering in Pakistan n now it Seems like the blacks clouds are over the head again

The suicide of a student last year & Entry test scandal was not wrenched of the branches that another life was taken from the grounds. A beautiful windy night followed by slight rain with the falling wall of Mumtaz Hall is another thrown in the heart. That wall- known to be aged enough didn’t bear the old age and fell off. Our beloved tree is angry upon the wall; if it had to fall then it should have gone alone. Taking a life gave it much attention but it would be built again, what about a life that was gone forever?  Was it the fault of a wall or that management who did not care for the building, It needed constant repair and with no re-designing, a Living Life, A star in the sky fell too.

This old Tree saw Loads of students protesting peacefully in the middle of a magical & beauteous night, but Was that protest worth to be done after the damage? YES, it was because this is what education teaches us, to be empowered and speaking for our rights. Rights that now require Change as a result.  A change that will bring back the Good old days so this tree despite of being old can stand up again to provide shadow to the rising stars.

My Opinion

History has witnessed a bad and Good time too, I will not say that UET is going down the ground but Yes, It needs a change in practices that would again take it too the heights of success where Engineers and Now Business graduates too will continue to make a better world for this Nation with more pride, enthusiasm and the Quaid-e-Azam spirit.

A beautiful Sunny Day Followed by an Enjoyable consumer behavior and a Bunked Productivity Management Class lead me and my 3 friends to the Passport Office Today, We Like every other responsible citizen of the state had high Expectations of efficiency and effectiveness as we have been reading these 2 words since the last three years, the maximum time we thought to be taken was 2-3 hours for 4 people. Not to Forget We had these Expectations from being a citizen of a Democratic state where Common man has every power

One of the best scenarios I witnessed today is that if u stop by at Barkat Market then almost every other person on the roads with a desk and a form would ask “Sir Ji tussi Passport Office Janna ey?” Quite a good revelation I must say. Anyways We Hired an Agent too, He made it sure that we would get a Passport in 3500 (Inclusive of his fee) within 15 days and we don’t have to go in lines. Agent was a tall dark man in Shalwar Kameez, Punjabi Urdu Mixed Lang. and looked like the best Confused man, One thing that astonished me about him was his Express Music Phone, One of my university friends has that phone even so I imagined how much is he earning being a An Agent. This 3500/person (PKR) consisted of:

1. 2300 Rs Passport Fee
2. 1000 Rs Token Fee (NADRA’s Token for VVIP movement in Passport Office)
3. 200 Rs The Agents fee

The deal was set at 3500/person, At first he took our ID cards and money and went for our bank work, Thank God one of our friend followed with him so he didn’t get a chance to flew away. Whereas I was sitting in a car enjoying the Free Wi-Fi-Spot. It took us almost an Hour to get the bank tasks done and then the stamp into our form.

Finally at 12:45 we entered the Glorious Office and Saw a hustle bustle, Even Railway stations are a better place, everything was in chaos, ladies or gents, kids everyone was frustrated, people were hitting each other showing no respect for ladies even. Sitting area was in the middle of the office and no area was available to walk even.

One thing that freaked me out the most were my Age fellow people who behaved as the most corrupt and uncivilized community of the Nation. After a lot of trouble I went into the Line and was cursing myself for this. Men were getting into Female Lines and were shouting and disrespecting everyone, When they were forced to leave the area then Women showed some great disciplinary actions of bad words. I felt at the moment That Passport is far flung concept, I thought My death Warrant would be issued soon as I would Die of suffocation. A lot of ladies looked at me as if I belonged to Mars or Jupiter Province of Pakistan. One lady specially stared at me for 5 minutes, I was tweeting at the moment and was told to keep my eyes on my purse haha

The Management should have at least turned the AC’s with the Kind of crowd today. After 15 minutes of patience, Tolerance and ambiguity I was asked by one of my friend to come out. We were now told by our Agent to wait till 4 as the Lines were fully loaded and office too.  We waited till 1:10 inside the office and then came out. The camera Man taking Photo’s of people was texting and calling here and there in between. Agents were flying almost at every corner making best deals of the day.

It was Friday so the Passport Office was closed at 12, we stood by for the turn till 2 pm and Office was to re-open at 3 pm. We were quite hungry and in a funny mood so we went for shawarma’s whereas one of the friend had two of them and was quite Proud of it. 4 of us discussed our food habits and the adjourning area’s starting from thandiani to Karachi. Unfortunately, all of us were unlucky not to be at any of these places in our previous Lives.

The bestest thing at that time was our hunger and the Shawarma Boy forgot to put cheese into it.

After a heavy lunch followed some sprite we went to a park in front of Passport Office for killing time. Since we were 4 so enjoyment was not a problem. I observed almost every other person in the park was an agent followed by some family (Men, women & kids). They had also asked them for the 4 pm work like we were told. Our agent was smart enough to make us believe that Passport office would listen to him after 4 pm and we were dumb enough to believe it

By the way I didn’t mentioned that The Agent got vanished a lot of times, We had to spend almost a 200 Rs Balance on getting him on board again and again. At 4 we entered the Passport Office again and believe you me the conditions were far more worse. Agent tried to negotiate with us for more money or he was directly asking for a bribe. He started from 1000 and ended up at taking Rs. 250. Finally were were getting into the photo area which was the most crowded and important area. At 4:45 PM I had my so called photo shoot, the picture was quite horrible I must Admit. Half of my hair was outta pony and the hairstyle was looking like a nest. Passport making is a 5 step process. The first 4 went with no difficult but the last one freaked me out. The token were working with a random order, For example if I am 234 then after 233, 235 or sometimes 789 was lighted on the board. I was quite confused and asked for the logic of randomness to the officer but he started to shout as if I claimed him responsible for the increase in price of sugar

Exactly at 6:30 My work was done and fortunately 3 of my friends were still waiting to be photo shot. We were hell tired and no sitting was available. Mobile were almost dead because one the friends enjoyed Angry birds in Park and at the waiting spot too.

In-between the breaks we had many ideas regarding the place for example: Making a documentary on them and publishing it over web explaining the detailed Miss management by the Passport Office

The Non-Randomness of the Token system by NADRA in Passport office didn’t hit my logical or dumb mind. I kept thinking why was it random, May be the better bribe man was getting a way better turn.  We finally got free at 7:10 exact and Thanked God that Golden task of applying for a passport was done. We rushed out of The Office and the Street was dark and Cold. 2 men followed us to the parking, I though them to be some kind of crooked thieves but they turned out to be guards haha

Passport Office however taught us one thing Today for Sure PATIENCE!! We went by every signal as Underpasses were closed today so Standing on Signals was nothing as we had a patience full day at Passport Office, More over It was the last day for the Applying ones as the Fee for Passports was to be increased by 1000 (PKR) from 1^st January, 2012

As I always say Criticism in not the only way so I have Some Suggestions the for Passport Office after Todays Observation:

1. Crowd Management- Not even a single person was following a line or length, some ground rules needs to be defined
2. Check and balance at employees- Officials including the Members wearing shirts of “Muhafiz” were taking bribe from common people making them paying for a single passport of 2500 to 6000 Min.
3. Sitting Area- It should be outside the office or not near the counter atleast
4. Water Facility should be available and AC’s should be turned on in case of suffocation
5. Passport office should be given under the banner of NADRA if u ask me, I think it would work better

Since the Blog is already too Long so I should Shut My self Now . . .

My This Birthday was Special in Every Way, I Must add that I never had a Birthday This much Enjoyable and felt never so blessed But today because of 2  reasons.

Firstly It was the Haj day on 5th Nov, My Birthday came on a sacred day, I was more than Happy, I saw Khutba-e- Haj Live on TV and It was immense pleasure and feeling of contentedness. This day meant to me that All my wishes would be granted today so I had to Ask Allah Almighty With great care, I had a fear inside me, What If I asked Something that is not meant for me But A believe that Allah Almighty will set up all; makes me Strong and confident every moment. He  has granted me everything till now, A loving family  and sincerest friends in whole wide world

Friends are one of the most valuable things in this planet, I removed the Birthday Notification from My Facebook account to check how Many can “Remember and Wish” me Just-In-Time, The plan did work put well, Only 12 friends out of 100′s wished me at 12 am, But they are the ones I treasure, Not because they wished me on Time but because they’ve always been with me in my thick and thins, A Special thanks to all of them

So now Comes The second Reason of My Happiness today, I was told That we were going out at 3pm, But a change of order was sensed by me *smile*, It was a surprise party for me at Fatima’s home and every one in my gang turned out to be there, They wished me with a scream in a Dark room, and to be honest I fell down at that and trembled ever after I had cut the cake *laughs*

All My 8 University friends were there and they had brought a delicious Fresh Cream Cake, Yummy Chicken Cheese Pattis, Mouth Watering Pizza, World best Chicken & potato Cutlets made by Fatima’s Mum, Chilled Coke and heavenly Chowmin, Not to Forget some delightful faces were waiting for me

We played Ludo and Dark room after the party and took loads of photos; which obviously are the best part of any party *memories*

So In Short it were 6 hours of Extreme Joy for me, I can no one have had a birthday with this much fun and sacred part, Yes I will remember this one all my Life, No one has sincerest friends Like I have and no one has a blessed life as that of mine

My Dengue Management Plan for donations in Lahore worked very well, I was  Alham Du Lilah, Able to provide donors at the required time and place to. But now because of Out rage of Dengue Fever all donors have been consumed.

“I Officially  Announce Today (11th September, 2011) that I would be working with Database Updation for the next 1 month, During this Period I will not be able to provide Blood donors”

Since I am not providing donors so the Help from other sources should not get a break, Here are some numbers and details that You can follow when In Need of Blood (for Lahore Only), If you people would ask me for donors from now on, then I will contact them too.

Here are some Tips for curing Dengue Fever:

1. Add few Drops of Lemon in Fresh Apple Juice, It will help Develop Platelets and will Help cure Dengue
2. Papaya Leaves Boiled in water also increase the platelet count

Also Govt. of Punjab has now announced free helpline for Dengue Fever at +92 800 99000
